4minute might disband; HyunA stays in Cube

According to some sources in the industry, the five-membered group 4minute is to disband after seven years of activity.
Cube Entertainment has renewed its contract with HyunA and is also negotiating renewal with some of the other members. Those who are not renewing plan to seek new agencies.
One industry associate claims that each member has a different idea of their future path whether it be singing or acting, and after several months of discussion, they have decided that it was difficult to keep the group togehter.

Why is mostly girl groups? or am I forgetting some boy groups because I don't pay attention to them?

Z:EA gives me the feeling of being the kind of group who stays "together" but in weird circumstances. So they will keep making subunits and the members doing their own things (the popular ones), while probably some of them leave. Now that I said this in a couple of weeks there is going to be news of their complet disbandment to make me look stupid lol

2am disbanded? How did I miss that news!
I thought they were just on some YG level long ass hiatus.

Jinwoon and Seulong left JYP. Changmin is still with BigHit. JYP stated that they haven't officially disbanded as a group yet and the members have said they'll always be members of 2AM, but they're all doing solo careers right now. There were a few omona (http://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/15423343.html) posts (http://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/15445005.html/) from back in March if you want to read more about it.

i've been wondering about this too. could it be because many girl groups don't usually have dedicated fandoms to fall back on? maybe when consistent touring isn't an option there's less incentive to stay as a group.

I agree. This is why I think Soshi will outlast their contemporaries. They can at least tour for a while and get coins. I'm thinking only a select few girl groups can do that.
