Release Date: 2009/11/04

No details about the reason for cancellation has been provided.

At this time, there is no indication to show whether or not it might be released at a later time in the future.

Therefore, it needed to be cancelled from your order XXXXXXXXX.

Please write back to this email in case our assistance is needed.

Thank you so much for shopping at CDJapan.

Source; my email. D:

Edit; The status has also been changed on on CDJ's site. Sadface.

Personally I am so sadface it hurts, it was going to be an epic setlist, that's for sure. Hopefully Avex/SM will give SOME reason.

Probably because of Kangin's thing. D: I got the exact same e-mail from CD Japan earlier this year when the guitarist of Japanese band ONE OK ROCK found himself in legal trouble...their new single got canceled and CD Japan sent out that e-mail letting me know.

Japan is just as good as Korea at waving around the banstick when artists screw up. I'm a little surprised, given that the incident happened in Korea, and was by a Korean citizen, and particularly because it's only Kangin on hiatus and not all of Super Junior - but I guess the fundamentals of idol-culture remain the same on both sides of the ditch, and the first thing that happens is people run for cover. ^^; Hopefully they release the DVD further down the track, though I imagine the distributor is probably waiting to see what happens with Kangin's case (if it's gaol time, goodbye DVD, that baby will never see the light of day).

Eh, I don't know about that. They're still selling craploads of DBSK stuff, new stuff, without canceling any of that. One does wonder, though.

DBSK's situation is a bit different because DBSK didn't actually do anything wrong - actually, they were the ones wronged, and Japan got behind that. ^^ But Kangin fucked up, so they'll pull the DVD so it doesn't seem like they're endorsing his mistakes, or something.

I think the culture is probably a bit different now than from Jaejoong's suspension. And wasn't he gone for some of their Japanese activities anyway? But at the time, DBSK were fairly new to the Japanese music scene, and not only would they not have been well known enough for their actions in Korea to REALLY impact them (simply because...no one would have cared) but SM may have been willing to overlook and let them promote in order to continue to attempt to gain a foothold in the Japanese market. SuJu are in a bit of a different position though, because DBSK ARE so big in Japan - and quite a lot of Korean groups are doing activities in Japan now, moreso than when DBSK were starting out - and SuJu are sort of their little brother group, riding along on the coat tails of their success. So already they're in a position where they have to have a little more decorum, because more people are watching and caring.

Of course. This is all complete speculation on my part. ^^ But I can't really think of anything else that has happened recently that would result in a cancellation of the DVD.

Kangin's DUI would be considered worse than Jaejoong's as Kangin hit another car, and then ran away. Also, Japan is 0 tolerance on driving after consuming alcohol; at the moment there has been a bit of a rash of Japanese celebs getting caught up in alcohol/drug related charges; AND I distinctly remember reading somewhere that there has been some serious attention being placed on an increasing amount of DUI cases in Japan at the moment (...I don't have sources off the top of my head, I'm sorry, but er, I promise I'm not spewing made up crap?). So given all that, they may want to be seen as taking a tough stance on the issue?

Still speculating of course. ^^

And using that particular rock band as a comparison actually kind of works in this situation, because the lead singer of the band is a former member of idol group News, plus the single in question was going to be the theme song to a prime time drama with a well known cast, so their exposure to the Japanese public would have been greater than the average rock band. So while I totally agree, the rock industry is completely different to the pop industry, the lines got a little blurry in that particular situation. ^^

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at some of the SM/Avex meetings, I've got to admit. I'd love to know all the shit that is going down between them.

WHAT. WHY? Does this mean SM is losing the DBSK lawsuit and so they're losing money and they need to cancel certain activities/releases?

... I can't help but assume. :|

I think probably because of Kang In? Avex is pretty strict. If their artists were troublemakers, they won't hesitant to take an action. For example when one of their artist was in drug trouble lately as suspect only (not yet as the charged one), they immediately cut his contract.

They are still making a ton of money off dbsk so I seriously doubt it
