i like how when hyorin's supposed to be sensual her hair is out of braids but when she's supposed to look tougher or standing with the guys her hair is in braids
bye
bora better not be seen with braids in jooyoung's MV otherwise i'm actually done lol
I feel like Zico's not very good at adapting his style to songs that aren't his own. I liked Hyolyn's and Palo Alto's parts, but Zico can leave off. Someone left a comment on nb that the 3 artists sound like they're each in their own song instead of collabing, and imo that's a pretty good summary of what's going on here. Still, I like the song.
I don't like the use of the bear cub, and I think the mv was v. dated in a bad way. Not cohesive at all.
this is so boring and disappointing WHY DIDN'T HYORIN RAP? WHY'S HER HAIR IN BRAIDS? WHY DOES SHE HAVE A FAKE EYEBROW PIERCING? i filmed a reaction vid to this song cuz i thought it would be messy but its so boring im just like scowling at the screen the whole time asking why hyorin isnt rapping
Great song as expected from those composers. Would LOVE if this could take over some of the mainstream rnb sound but I have my doubts. Hopefully the star power helps.
...but she was doing the same "sensual" moves in the close ups in braids tho?
Not trying to defend her or anything (so not Hyorin's fan), just that I read your comment first before watching the vid and was expecting something different.
Can someone explain to me (a non African American) why only a few people even mentioned Hyorin's braids but when it's say CL she gets bashed to high heaven? Hwasa gets absolved of all responsibility too since almost all of the comments on that post were "oh hwasa who styled you/gave you cornrows?". Is it because Hwasa/ Mamamoo can do no wrong? What is appropriating and what's not?
idk why you're expecting a detailed explanation, obviously there's a bias on omona and not everyone here is black or some black people are just tired of calling out something that never changes. i equally sideeye everyone involved. even moonbyul had braids the other day which was the cherry on top of whatever's going on with mamamoo.
also, idk why your comment rubbed me the wrong way but it did. it's gross and irritating everytime a kpop artist tries to use braids to look hard... when blackness is still seen aggressive and black ppl are being treated like shit globally. like black kids (who wear these braids) don't get shot down.
it felt like you were searching for an out for whoever your fave is because ppl aren't calling out hyorin as fervently, like this is a game. maybe bc hyorin/mamamoo have only just started on their descent towards fuckery?
also when you say none african american what do you mean? african americans aren't the only ones affected by this negative definition of blackness.
Okay. I guess you replying me a bit aggressively is because I rubbed you the wrong way so I'll address your points one by one.
I say non African American because I don't feel, as an Asian, I have authority over what black (who seemed predominantly American on this site) people feel about appropriating braids. Of course, there are other old cultures that braid - even Asian! - but since this is a hip hop video and that started off as black American culture, I thought I said that appropriately.
I do not follow mamamoo, so I didn't know about Moonbyul.
I'm sorry that you feel like I was searching for an out for "my fave" (I don't really have a female fave). I was merely stating as an observation that it seems like some people get slammed more than others, which is probably a stupid thing to say I guess.
I wasn't really "expecting a detailed explanation", it's just that I have had some good eye opening discussions with certain omona members throughout the years and that's what I meant. I could've used a better figure of speech rather than "explain".
apologies if i came off as aggressive, i didn't think anything i said was worded in such a way, maybe i should work on tone?
black people worldwide (black children worldwide) braid their hair still it is a part of black culture which is why i questioned the "none african american" bit.
i thought i kind of already explained all i could in the previous post, i really have nothing else to add.
about the female fave bit, it's just there are like three comments here about cl and hwasa/hyorin so maybe the discrepancy in calling them out isn't quite as high as you think?
EDIT: I really feel like people act like calling people out over appropriation of black culture is some kind of point based game. Like do you really even care about black people? Is this fun for you? (not aimed at op, just in general)
awful song
