The press conference for YG Entertainment and Mnet‘s new survival program, “Mix & Match,” took place today, during which YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk revealed the details for the agency’s highly anticipated new boy group.

Yang Hyun Suk announced that the new boy group will be called iKON. According to Yang Hyun Suk, the “c” in “icon” was replaced with a “k” to signify the intent to spread Korea’s culture.

The new boy group will have seven members in total. The six members of Team B and three new trainees from YG Entertainment are competing for those spots on the show. Out of those, three members are already confirmed for iKON- Team B’s B.I., Bobby, and Kim Jin Hwan. The rest, Song Yoon Hyung, Kim Dong Hyuk, and Gu Jun Hoe, plus the new trainees, Jung Jin Hyung, Jung Chan Woo, and Yang Hong Suk, will compete for the remaining four spots.

Jung Chan Woo played Lee Min Ho‘s younger version in the dramas  “The Heirs” and “Boys Over Flowers.”

Yang Hyun Suk explained that because the training periods for Team B’s Song Yoon Hyung, Kim Dong Hyuk, Gu Jun Hoe have been short, it is hard consider them as well-prepared as the other three Team B members; therefore; they are competing against the other trainees.

“Mix & Match” will see two competitors dropped from the show. Yang Hyun Suk added, “It will be hard for the members dropped to debut through YG.” He hopes to debut iKON early next year.

“Mix & Match” premieres September 11.

OK first thing's first, I actually like the name, it could always be better (and nth will beat KIN6S but this is still better than Bangtan Boys or Bulletproof Boy Scouts, better than EXO, better than GOT7 -wtf- and sure as hell better than Winner).

Yes to Jinhwan being a fixed member, I'm so happy and I love the fact that people who were shitting on him will seethe now. It was logical YG was gonna keep them, they've been in the company the longest and this group basically started with them.

I'm sure Junhoe will be in not matter what. I kinda have a feeling this will be OT6 + 1 new trainee (probably Jinhyung cutie pie, I pray he can saaaang). If not then either YoYo (nooooooooooooooooooo) or Donghyuk will be out and Jinhyoung and Hongsuk will be in. I don't see mini Lee Minho as a remember, YG will just probably leave him as an actor.

Yassss to Hanbin and Bobby being on EH's new album.

All in all I hope it's OT6 + Jinhyung (pls) or Hongsuk.

Not too fond of the fact that the audience will choose but I'm hoping that helps keep OT6 together.

When will YG move on from that concept? It's so uninspired! It's so boring now. The boys will get their needed exposure and such but it's so tiring for them and the audience as well.

Also.. Junhoe > Jinhwan

Of course I'm still watching this because I don't love myself. Jinhwan better step up and show some improvement and hopefully grow a few inches taller too. The new members look kute, not really YG-looking. Whatever I think that means.

like WIN, I won't watch this show because I can't deal with survival programs (I watch smtm3 skipping the part when they announce the results. hahahha). but I'm looking forward to their dork moments being the young boys that they're. (1998! I'M REALLY OLD FOR THIS SHIT)
