Jessi and Amber's reaction to George Floyd's death

https://instagram.com/p/CAwsoFSgZ3P

"This is fuckin disgusting to see that racial injustice and police brutality is still happening in this world. There should be no tolerance for racism and murderers to roam free after killing a man.. It breaks my heart to see people of color being mistreated like they are criminals... This is not right... this is not humane. We want justice for George Floyd and all the others that fell victim to this. #justiceforgeorgefloyd"

"I’ve been trying to find the right words and I haven’t been able to. This shouldn’t happen. No matter the color of your skin, we ALL need to be part of the change. This needs to end. #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd

Don't call him a "poc" like you're an actual ally. Amber with her hateful respectability shit especially doesn't even dare to use the word Black. The fuck is this "we ALL need change" as if this is impacting people the same way.

[identity profile] myrrhcat.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
looks like every celeb who's been antiblack before is trying to use this as image cleanup

[identity profile] cloudcrystals.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
hmm, funny how none of them included #blacklivesmatter or at least #blm in their posts 🤔🤔

Even if this is now genuine I haven't forgot what you said before Amber 🔍🙄

[identity profile] nudrive.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Uhh sure Amber 😬😬😬

[identity profile] dongsaengkiller.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
She said we all need to be part of the change which I read it as don’t think because you’re asian or white you can ignore it because you aren’t directly affected.
Can’t believe the day came where I essentially defended something Amber said. Wonders will truly never cease

I still disagree that we "all" need to be part of the change when the issue is murder of Black people, Black people are not doing anything to warrant the targeted violence.

[identity profile] dongsaengkiller.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
Good point. The only people who need to change are racists killing us for simply existing. I didn’t think about it that way, thanks for pointing it out

[identity profile] broadcities.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
at least amber donated to minnesota funds to support the cause (for some reason i still follow her on ig and she posted a screenshot as proof, which was a bit hmmmm to me), but i agree that the we ALL need to change bit hit me the wrong way and it felt some celebs are using this for themselves

[identity profile] apori.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you were wrong tbh! It's just that I have no lenience towards her anymore :( I can still hear her hateful "he fucking deserved it!" for the man harrassed by police when eating a sandwich when he absolutely did not!

[identity profile] goldenrosalie.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
amber really should sit and eat her food. everyone needs a refresher of what exactly she said before, that video only gets worse with every next view.

[identity profile] aures.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
i always have a bit of an issue with people posting screenshots of their donations, it always comes across as "look at me doing good"
they can just say they donated and ask people to do the same in stead of being so specific about it but that's just my opinion idk

[identity profile] in-noctem.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Lmao yup - Jay Park’s really trying it after all the shit he’s pulled throughout his whole career. Wasn’t he just going off at fans who were trying to educate him on why his hairstyles were offensive...like I’m pretty sure that was in the last few months

[identity profile] pepsi-twist9.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
The Jay Park that said 69 is fine since Jay isn't the power to be that should judge him?

[identity profile] dior-chic.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Same bb, the moment I saw that I felt so much disdain for her. She really fucked up, and I really liked her previously.

[identity profile] dior-chic.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
How much did she donate

[identity profile] neoreulwonhae.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice try, girl.

[identity profile] dongsaengkiller.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, that was both heartbreaking and infuriating! It was the last day I listened to her music. And she said it with her whole chest too smh

[identity profile] myrrhcat.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking about that but I do think that seeing actual evidence of a donation, and an example of an amount to donate, makes others more likely to follow along and donate as well. audience matters of course. celebs posting about how they donated thousands probably won't have that effect, but I've found that if I post on FB about where and how much I donated, others tend to join in more.

[identity profile] aeromi.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
im still upset about what amber said previously but i appreciate what shes doing now and she seems to actually be making an effort to show that shes changed so i forgive her for now,

[identity profile] infj23.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, Amber.

[identity profile] torontok.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Amber's in this damned-if-you-do-, damned-if-you-don't position solely through her own actions so I don't feel much sympathy for her getting flamed because she has a lot of work to do to earn back any trust from the Black community and the burden is on her to prove she's grown and changed.I am glad that she donated because the least she can do right now is financially support the community.

I also hope people come down this hard on male idols who have routinely shown colourist/antiblack/appropriative/racist behaviours but are mute right now. BLM and this case have gone viral in Korea, there's no reason why these rappers and others shouldn't be piping up

[identity profile] aures.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
oh really? that's good to hear!
it's just that usually when celebrities post how much they donated (like thousands) it makes me feel like well here's my small amount, it makes me feel inferior and i know a LOT of people feel this way
when non-celebrities post it, like you do on FB, i also tend to follow up, but with celebrities posting insane amounts? it feels like showing off their wealth but maybe that's just how i personally see it, it's good to hear from you that it's not always the case, that's a relief! so thanks for sharing this, i'll be more mindful about it next time i see it

[identity profile] nana-the-dwarf.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Amber needs to sit her ass down. Using this incident to clean her image doesn’t erase her “he fucking deserved it” from last time.

[identity profile] broadcities.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
i didn't see that tbh! the story isn't up anymore either. i just remember it was a screenshot of a list of donators and her name was there too

[identity profile] broadcities.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah i've got mixed feelings about it as well. my cynical side is a bit suspicious because of her earlier comments but on the other hand, at least she is financially supporting the cause. i guess both can be true.

[identity profile] broadcities.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
this is a great comment, ia with everything

[identity profile] franklotion.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)

“ALL”

bye girl

[identity profile] dior-chic.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah ok! 👍

[identity profile] goshipgurl.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
ok amber

[identity profile] aeries-amethyst.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I question the intentions behind Amber's post, whether she genuinely means it and is trying to make a change or she's just trying to clear her tarnished reputation. After being disappointed by people time and time again, I am not quick to give anyone the benefit of the doubt these days and I refuse to worry myself sick over it. At the end of the day, people are going to do whatever they want to do regardless of how it will impact others. I'm taking this at face value. Her wording irks me even though it is commendable that she has even bothered to voice her opinion in support of the movement and also donated to the cause, but that is that. The one upside about being a celebrity in this case, is that fans will follow you to support a cause that you deem worthy - so regardless of her intentions, at least fans will join in to make contributions as well and continue to spread the word.

yep lol

[identity profile] thebloomroom.livejournal.com 2020-05-30 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Amber was so quick to be team cop that I have a hard time taking this seriously but whatever. I guess shes okay with cops harassing and arresting black people for existing but draws the line at murder.

Jessi is like Jay Park to me, their entire careers are based off of imitating black artists so idek. I guess. It seems performative and for them to get passes for their behavior.

[identity profile] ashdevilrun23.livejournal.com 2020-05-31 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Say black lives matter amber you fucking coward

[identity profile] ashdevilrun23.livejournal.com 2020-05-31 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn’t it 🤔

[identity profile] lightframes.livejournal.com 2020-05-31 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, especially for people with a wide reach it does encourage others to donate.

[identity profile] lightframes.livejournal.com 2020-05-31 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess Black Lives Matter is still controversial for some people... which is really frustrating.

[identity profile] xoxoluv517.livejournal.com 2020-06-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a bit in the middle about it because yes, it does feel like they're trying to be like "see, I donated thiiiiiis much!" and I can see people starting arguments like "_____ donated ____ dollars more than ______".

However, I also remember what Heechul said about donations and how he made an anonymous donation to Gangwon after the fire but then got dragged because he didn't publicize it and people thought he didn't donate.

It's really a damned if I do damned if I don't situation.
