Producer of SNL Korea says Lee Se Young is not leaving; LSY posts 'apology'; B1A4 comments

Following alarming videos of female “SNL Korea” staff members sexually assaulting B1A4 and INFINITE, which had been posted by “SNL Korea” as behind-the-scenes clips, reports stated that Lee Se Young, one of the show’s cast members who was among the perpetrators, would be leaving “SNL.”

Content producer Ahn Sang Hwi of “SNL Korea 8” denied this news, saying, “We haven’t discussed Lee Se Young leaving the show. The report is false. However, regarding the recent controversy, the entire production staff and cast are deeply apologetic.” Lee Se Young’s agency FNC Entertainment also said that they had not heard of Lee Se Young leaving “SNL Korea.”

These behind-the-scenes videos in question of the boy groups with the “SNL” cast show female staff members rushing at the group members after they’ve been introduced, grabbing at them with complete disregard.

Lee Se Young Posts Handwritten Apology To B1A4 After Sexual Assault Controversy

Lee Se Young said, “Hello, this is Lee Se Young. I apologize for worrying everyone with my wrongful actions. I personally apologized to each individual member on set, and with this letter, I want to once again apologize to all the fans and B1A4 members. I’ll reflect on my actions time and again so that something like this does not happen again. I sincerely apologize.

B1A4 Responds To “SNL Korea” Sexual Assault Controversy

The B1A4 members recently shared their thoughts on the recent “SNL Korea” controversy.

On November 28, B1A4 held a showcase for their third studio album “Good Timing,” where they were asked about the “SNL Korea” sexual assault controversy.

Jinyoung talked about the incident, saying, “Honestly, it happened so suddenly that we didn’t know what to make of the situation. So we watched the video again, and we thought it would make the fans worry a lot. As big as the controversy is, we’re going to power through and work harder on our album.

Block B also subjected to same sexual harassment as INFINITE/B1A4 on ‘SNL Korea’

After it was revealed recently that B1A4 and INFINITE had been subjected to sexual harassment by the female cast members of ‘Saturday Night Live Korea‘, the staff issued an apology, but just to B1A4.

Well, now it has been pointed out that Block B also suffered the same treatment from female cast members when they guested on the show.

while i'm glad that she apologized to them personally... i really don't think that it's enough :/

[identity profile] cafetin99.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
Sexual harassment can get you fired in any other job... if not fired, the staff should be suspended.

[identity profile] saemcrh.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
An apology for sexually assaulting (not harassment, assault because there's contact) people isn't enough. Charges need to be filed... people need to be fired... regulations need to be put in place... workshops need to be attended.

This isn't saying something dodgy that deserves criticism, it's an actual crime that is clearly a behavioural pattern.

It's even grosser because here's older people also taking advantage of what they know is their seniority in that social hierarchy. It's all disgusting.

She literally grabbed their crotches and an apology is apparently enough? jfc

Jinyoung's comment and them just being worried about their fans =(

I love how she only apologized to B1A4 like it didn't come to light that they do this to all their guests :/

[identity profile] psharp10.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
wow a handwritten apology and the problem's solved!

jfc, do better. fire people, set an example, report this. sexual harassment/assault is a crime.

[identity profile] miwa201.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
it's a shame bc i liked her on snl. but she needs to be fired

[identity profile] jrt131n.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 10:09 am (UTC)(link)

No....no that's not how that works, that's not how that fucking works at all. If this had been a male cast member who had done this to a female guest this would be ending a whole lot differently.

[identity profile] iznanassi.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
That's a really terrible "apology". If she isn't going to be fired or take leave herself she needs to acknowledge and take responsibility for what she did, and then condemn it.

I was a pretty big fan of hers but after this no way. This isn't a joke or an overreaction.

[identity profile] ohlookshiny.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
how the fuck does she still have a job? i don't see the rest of the staff apologising either when it wasn't just her.

[identity profile] niyarav.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
Umm wtf kind of ritual is this and how do they think this is ok that they keep doing the same thing to every boy group?
Her apology sucks and SNL needs to show some kind of proof that ALL their staff are going to be getting some serious education on sexual harassment and assault.

[identity profile] hurtmybones.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
none of the groups assaulted are gonna be allowed to do something about this other than release watered down statements like Jinyoung's so SNL and tvn better start firing people

[identity profile] cosmicjam.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
No no no. An apology isn't nearly enough. All the snl cast members who did this need to be fired

[identity profile] bloodtaki2.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm livid. This better not be it. Fucking apologize to all groups and fire them. Not that they will, but i'm just so furious.

One person apologizing to one group is nowhere near enough. It's clear that this is a hazing ritual the whole SNL team was a part of-or else why would the same thing happen over and over in the same way? This is disgusting, rape culture at it's finest.

[identity profile] sra-interesante.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
did you see infinite/b1a4/block b members faces??? did you listen zico saying "what are you doing?" in that last video???

she even throw a fist on the air after touching them, like some kind of celebration ... WTF
Image

i'm mad because at this point its obvious they did this to all their male guests and never find it wrong
SNL POSTED THOSE VIDEOS ON FACEBOOK!

i dont trust this shitty show with a cast full of perverts and i hope they get cancel before inviting more idols

it makes me sick to think in all my faves that attended this crappy show, also i feel bad for those girlgroups (specially under age members) that had to work next to those pigs

[identity profile] lulufairybubble.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)

And this is the shit they deemed ok to show us. Imagine what they do that they dont show. Entertainment business is full of predators.

[identity profile] broadcities.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
an apology is not enough. it scares me 1) that they posted these videos at all - apparently, nobody saw anything wrong with them 2) that this is probably just the tip of the ice berg

[identity profile] rosiemotleymind.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is she the only one apologizing? Are they using her as a scapegoat when they know it was a whole lot of them backing these dudes into corners? This is just a gross situation and I hope the proper consequences happen.

[identity profile] seulgibear.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
this apology is garbage and everyone involved needs to get fired. who can say this won't still go on? they just know better than to post the videos online now. the block b video is even more disgusting than the others, they literally back them into a corner and a ton of people mob them what the fuck is wrong with them

[identity profile] honeebs.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate KOR apologies, they dont even do it right. It a flat sorry you were offended, I'll do better.

[identity profile] mjspice.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The band's comments on it are rather disturbing because they ended it with a "I know you are all worried but it's ok, we'll just work harder on our album." >_>

[identity profile] bri-and-red.livejournal.com 2016-11-28 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Her apology was shit, no apology would make her not be fired okay

There's video evidence of repeated sexual assault by their staff that they took themselves! They did it to multiple groups (who knows how many, maybe all) and were counting on none of them ever saying anything/being able to go against it, and if that's not the definition of sexually predatory behavior I don't know what is
