Haha I wouldn't worry too much! I just always used mine on a bed etc instead of a hard surface and the fan filled with dust and fibres and started overheating. Using it on a blanket once in a while prob doesn't do much harm. Plus my laptop was pretty old, don't know if the fans are so prone to it in newer laptops
